The Latter-day Saints are not ambitious to figure as a rock of offense, upon which their nation, falling, shall bo broken in pieces; but it verily looks as if such were to be the case. However, in any case, they will prove their loyalty to the God-given Constitution of the country, and though others should seek to trample it in the dust, they will struggle to rescue it and sustain its sacred provisions, the dearest of which is that granting religious liberty to all mankind. ABSTRACT OF CORRESPONDENCE. OUT-DOOK PREACHING. Elders S. H. Allen and A. H. Woodruff writing to us from Leek, Staffordshire, June 16, 1884, say: "Our President, by precept and example, has sh-wn UK our duties in regard to the work of out-door preaching; and as there has been but very little of this done in this District for ihe past two years, he wished us to preach through the towns and villages, and bring the Gospel before the people again. "On Wednesday, the 11th inst, we left Manchester and walked to Macclesfield, where tie Salvation Army was causing quite an excitement. Finding many people on the Square waiting for the Army, we took our stand and commenced to sing, and in a few minutes firmed the nucleus of a large congregation. While we spoke on the first principles, and of tie divine mission of the Prophet Joseph Smith, good attention was paid by all, and the people were enthusiastic to get the Articles of Faith and the Only True Gospel tracts after w; closed.
